Looks like a great weekend all the way around! Congrats. I can't wait to see some videos.
JGLI, what is a chillybuddy? I know Harley could probably use one in the summer. I walk him only at night when the temp is above 80. He can't take the heat. I assume it's something that you put in the freezer and the dog wears?

The Chillybuddy is one cooling coat that you don't have to put in the freezer:

Sounds like a grand weekend all round! I too would like to know what a chillybuddy is. Lucy did not deal with our 80 degree weather this weekend.

I have students who use the chill coats, and they do seem to help some. I wouldn't rely on them as far as keeping your dog from heat stroke, but they can be helpful in cooling IF there is low humidity. If the humidity is high, the "cooling" effect won't take place, and perhaps then they could be a bit dangerous? I know sports vets say not to water your dog down if it's humid as the water doesn't evaporate and keeps the heat in the body instead of releases it causing faster heat stroke. It was humid where we were this weekend, so I didn't wet my dogs' coats and instead chose to keep them in a/c most of the time.

That is what attracted me to the Chillybuddy coat as you do not need to wet it down or put it in the freezer for it to work. I live within 8 miles of the ocean and surrounded by water on all sides so killer humidity is a constant here. I was originally told about the Chillybuddy from a friend in Fla. who is a distance runner and who runs with her dog. Any of the cooling coats that had to be wetted added both weight and stress to her dog but she found that the Chillybuddy was very light weight and the reflective surface did help to lower her dog's body temperature. My interest in them was not just to help keep my dog comfortable but since the schools here are not air conditioned and there are summer programs where both service and pet dogs are using the facilities, I was interested in them for use in the schools.

Looks like the ChillyBuddy coat has been well tested. Thanks for the link!

Hmm. Then the coats I've seen here are not Chillybilly's. They are all wet and reflective. I've heard of them though.
