Default Cold Winter Agility

We got home from our first trial this year. The first and last winter trial we will be going to. The arena was not heated, it snowed every day and we froze. Ever try and run when you can't feel your toes? When I poured some water into a metal dish for the dogs to drink, it immediately froze. The dogs were snug and warm in their crates with a heavy blanket over it, we were the ones who suffered.

We had fun though and the dogs did pretty well considering they had not done any Agility at all since the Nov. trial. It had been in an arena too but was heated so we will go back this year to that trial for the third time.

No Q's but did not really expect it. There were very few Q's as a lot of people were in the same position we are in, no training over the winter. Most of the classes, our dogs just made one error but you have to have a clean run. My sister was especially happy as Mikey did the dog walk and the teeter which after his bad "fly-off" in November she was afraid he would not.

Our next trial is not until April so we should be able to get some training in if all this snow finally melts away.

Brrrr!! Don't they have heated facilities up there!! I won't go to unheated trial sites in the winter and I'm in the southern US. There's one site in Texas that has lots of winter trials BUT it's not heated and propane heaters aren't allowed. I won't subect myself or my little 9 year old dog to those temps.

I'm headed to a show this weekend in a heated horse arena. It won't be comfy warm, but it will be 50 degrees or above, which is quite acceptable. I'm not expecting much Q wise either as we've been off for 2 months. We'll have fun though!
