Default Agility trial

Well, we are off this weekend to a two day Agility trial, the temperature right now is 30 (90 degrees) in the shade so it is going to be a hot one. I am wishing now I had clipped Remmy right down but it is too late now as he always acts silly for a while right after he is clipped.

It is just Games so he is in two Advanced Gamblers, one Advanced Snooker and one Advanced Jumper on Saturday and an Advanced Gambler, one Advanced Snooker and two Advanced Jumpers on Sunday so we will be busy. If he gets too hot and doesn't want to run, I will just scratch him. He lets me know when he has had enough and in this heat I am not going to push him. We were certainly not expecting this heat wave or I would not have entered him in that many classes.

The next weekend he is only entered in two Advanced Jumper and two Advanced Gamblers as I am not entering Advanced Standard till we can get our speed up a bit more. I have been training him over six inch jumps which is what he can jump in Specials and can see an improvement in his speed. He has no problem clearing the 10" jumps, has never knocked a bar down but can't clear them as fast, so hope I am on the right track with him.

Well, I am back from the Agility trial. Our weather forecast was only half right. On Saturday morning in poured rain. Remmy had a great run in Advanced Gamblers till he hit the closing. It was a tunnel, jump, then weave poles. He came out of the tunnel, slipped on the wet grass and crashed down on the jump. Knocked the wind out of him but he is alright. It finally stopped raining and he made up for it later in the day getting a Q in his Advanced Gambler class and also a Q in Advanced Snooker.

Sunday it was in the 30's, way too hot even when we soaked them in the kiddy pool. He missed his thrird Advanced Gambler by 3/10th of a second and we were just a little too slow in the Advanced Jumper classes.

It was a great weekend though, my sister's dog Mikey got his second Q in Starter Snooker and his first Q in Starter Jumper so she was really pleased with him.

We will be going back again next weekend for a trial in the same place, a great camp ground with a Lake and great fishing if we had time for it.

Congratulations to all of you! I'm glad to hear Remmy wasn't hurt and I hope you have much more cooperative weather next weekend :-)

Home again. Not sure if Remmy Q'd in his last Jumper Class or not as my Sister and brother-in-law did not want to wait till they posted it as they take quite a while. He had a clean run, just not sure about the time. He did a beautiful Minny Gamble in his Advanced Gamblers, tunnel, dog walk, tunnel so had enough points but I did not get him lined up right for the first jump in the closing and he knocked it down something he usually does not do. I got lost in his first Advanced jumpers, senior moment.

Today I had an appointment to take Remmy into the Vet at 8 to get two of his teeth pulled. He had two baby teeth that had not come out. They did not start on him till 3:15 so he is sleeping it off now. They cleaned his teeth at the same time so they look great. Awful thing to do to a dog after he worked so hard on the weekend.

Poor guy! After doing so well to have to come home to dental extractions! I'm glad to hear it went well and that he is sleeping peacefully. It sounds like he did very well, will you be notified of how he did? Did you have better weather and... do we get to see some pictures?

Congrats on all of your successes!! Running in the rain can be dangerous. It's why we don't have many (at all) outdoor trials here. No one likes them or goes to them. We go to indoor, air conditioned/heated shows.

It sounds like you guys are having a lot of success. I'm pleased for both of you!!!

I hope Remmy is feeling ok after his visit at the vet. Glad to hear he did good at the trials also.
