![]() See... Down here in SE Texas, the season isn't over until around November 30th. oh, we'll get some cool fronts in, but there will still be days that hit high 70s and low 80s in there.
But finding a kiddie pool this late in the season (I swear, why don't stores down here adjust to this issue instead of pretending we live somewhere where it actually freezes in the winter???) has become a serious chore. Our potential new family member loves his kiddie pool. And I'm having a devil of a time finding one at any local store. grrrrrr... |

![]() It is a seasonal thing with stores so u will not see any now till early spring and better grab a couple then. I got two past spring for ten bucks for the dogs. They stay out all winter, we empty and from Wal Mart they are made not bad to stand Pa winters. I get the largest one they have about near a foot deep quite round as well. they love it and does keep the ones not scared to wet the feet cooled down, others like the hose etc.

![]() Tell me about it!
Last year I tried to buy one from K-mart in July, no such luck. Mind you it gets pretty cool here at the end of August already. Just the same, they had back-to-school stuff but nothing for summer. I ended up going to a Big Lots and got a cheapo one for about $15, and this year I kept my eyes open. I got one while snow was still on the ground in April at WallyWorld, but I am still seeing them at the smaller hardware stores. Keep looking, good luck! If worse comes to worst you can try one of those places that sell the big black plastic thigs for about $50 for people who are trying to put sunken ponds into their backyards. Good luck!! PS the $312 thing is for a package of 12.

So... anyone got a pool ya wanna sell me? We hit 4 places tonight and found one giant pink pool with a hole in it. sigh.... the pond liners I saw weren't terribly expensive. But didn't look like they'd be comfy for him either. Not sure what we're going to do. Can't even find the *(&#*$ things on-line. i thought maybe a large plastic underbed storage bin might work temporarily. But now I can't find one of those!!! Used to have three of 'em and sent one to the kiddo. If he'll fit in it, I have one in the attic but it's not huge so.. not sure all 80lbs will fit. it's just ridiculous to me. The guy at Academy said that everything they have for summer is "sent to Galveston" already. Well, Galveston is 20 miles away. Is summer there really that different from summer here? :P It's 9:15 pm and 80 degrees outside still. If anyone has any work-around suggestions, it would be much appreciated. ![]() This is a little late, but just in case you're still looking for a pool:
Have you tried garage sales? You could also place a 'wanted request' with your local Freecycle. I'd try Craigslist too. Here in the Chicago area, we have a paper called the Tradin' Times. People list their unwanted items for sale. Everything & anything is available for sale. If there is a similar type of paper, in your area, you should look there too. |

![]() I've also seen people throwing them out. So maybe a drive by through the neighborhood, on garbage day, might turn up something.

![]() i got both of mine at garage sales, one for the ducks, one for the lab. pup. try posting notices at local day cares- the kid kind, not the dog ones! if there are any second hand kid stuff stores around, try talking to them/posting notices there. ask the manager at academy if they could special order you one back from galveston?
