Default Water on walks

We're trying hard to keep Georgia our 10 month lab mix happy with walks we were wondering when to take water with you for the dog. Right now we just do 1 mile walks and she pretty much refuses any water we offer. If we start a 2 mile walk I wonder if water might be required. It does get hot around here too (now we're in the mid 90s with 100s possible in summer). We try to only walk early or late when it's coolest (it's hard on humans too) but even then we worry about her over heating.

Any guidelines for when to bring water on a walk? Always?

I would suggest carrying water with you when at all possible. If the pup gets thirsty enough, she will get over her stubborness and drink. Our pup is kind of the opposite - she'll drink out of just about anything, bowls, water bottles, camelbaks, etc.

I would always bring water, just in case. You never know when it might be needed. I sometimes just bring a water bottle and tip it so water spills out, and Zoe will drink that way if she's thirsty enough. Other times, such as on really long walks, I'll bring a bag with the water and a bowl, and she'll always drink that way.

FYI

I've been taking a sports bottle with me from my cycling days for each walk and she will drink maybe 1/4 to 1/2 each time on a 1 mile walk. We have been walking when the sun starts to set so even then she does find the need to drink.

It's hard to tell if she likes it though. She drinks readily right from the bottle as I squeeze but sometimes she pulls away when I first present it to her. I have to show it a few times before she will take it sometimes. When she does drink she appears eager though. My guess is she doesn't want to stop and would rather look around.

Thanks for the advice. It's now a part of the walk along with my waist pack with bags for potty pickup and treats.
